The Importance of Networking
Ah, the joy of meeting new people. I’m not being sarcastic at all – it should be fun! *introverts have left the chat*
What is networking? It’s the process of getting to know one another and hopefully developing a “mutually beneficial” relationship afterwards. You can either be looking for a friend, a job opportunity, a mentor, cofounder, business partner and the list can go on. This is absolutely required if you’re an entrepreneur, business person or a certain type of professional.
Entrepreneurship is a lonely road, I’m sure most of you have heard this before. It’s even worse when there’s nobody like-minded in your circle. If you have big goals and dreams, then you need to surround yourself with people who can support, uplift and empower you. In order to grow exponentially, this is a must.
Have you ever heard of the quote, “Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future?” It’s exactly true. Another favorite of mine is, “The person you will be in 5 years is based on the books you read and the people you surround yourself with today.” There’s probably dozens of these types of quotes around the internet, but there’s many of them for a reason. Surrounding yourself with people who will challenge and change you for the better is important.
This is why we created Connectful, a networking app for young entrepreneurs and professionals. On the app, you can find like-minded friends, potential business partners, influencers to collaborate with, mentors and mentees.
Don’t worry that you may be shy when it comes to starting and keeping conversations. We were all born not knowing how to drive! We learned it by practicing. Instead of looking at networking as something “scary,” we should instead focus on the immense value it can bring to us and our business. This mindset change is everything.
